Went to local co-op to get a drink whilst out on or daily stroll.

Saw a few of the workers putting stuff out on the shelves. Noticed bright yellow stickers plastered all over a 12" pizza and a bowl of salad amongst other things.

Thought sod it...lets see how much they are..

Pizza: 80p, bowl of salad 20p. Both a couple of days within best before date etc..

Cracking pizza.....

Apart from backpacking in SE Asia, I would say that is the cheapest meal i have probably ever had.

Dog in Northern Vietnam (SAPA) was most delicious....

I am being serious here! I was young and stupid back in 2005 and completely off my brain!

I have noticed out local Co-op does this too.

The missus and I often spot some amazing deals, Well within Sell by date, and sometimes hiden behind other items on the shelf.

I have a theory that it is staff, tagging their tea at a reduced price, who will then go and buy it after their shift finishes.

me too... the markdowns seem to be really random.. Sometimes they will knock 20% or so off, other times, 90%...

I'm a sucker for the reduced section. I tend to head there first to see if there are any Brucies.

Then you may want to check your food bought from British super markets, a lot of frozen fish, prawns and tuna etc plus noodles, rices, chilli sauces are sourced from placed like Thailand,Vietnam

Not even the central plank of British culinary brilliance and tradition - the corner chippy. Not all the cod and chips really is cod and chips it seems. On the potato side of things we can be relatively assured. But some of the cod passed off to the unsuspecting punter, turns out to be pangasius - a Vietnamese catfish nurtured in the distincly un-codlike waters of the Mekong Delta.

India, seriously??? The Dominos pizza in Mumbai backs onto an open sewer.

I've done most places in Asia now and the food here is fine as long as you are reasonably sensible. Dinner in Singapore from a government inspected hawker stall (ie clean) is about £1.75. I have just returned from Tioman in Malaysia where we were eating fresh crab for about a tenner a kilo.

Not tried dog yet, but I have done pigs ears, stingray, sea cucumber, horse etc plus all sorts of crazy hot szechuan dishes!

I feel better for reading this as I do this all the time (much to the chagrin of my OH) - I've picked up all sorts of random stuff from there, but I always look for fish as it's usually good value.

I do, however, draw the line at anything that says "Quorn" on it...

yes

ASDA do terrific freshly made to order Pizza's in Swansea, their always very busy as their very tasty and excellent value for money. One night I was there ordering a Pizza, noticing that one Female employee appeared to be making Generic Pizza's for the display cabinet, I watched her piling the toppings on to this Pizza and thought "Crikey, thats a lot of Toppings", she spent ages on this Pizza taking extra care wrapping it etc, she then brings the Pizza round to the display fridge, tucks it in behind 3-4 other same size Pizza's before announcing "Right Jule, Im off to get washed up, See you in the morning".

Watching how much time she spent on this Pizza, I thought it must be good & chucked it in the basket, god knows what was on it all together, the label said ham & pineapple though?

Lavish Extravagance.
After a thirty year hunger strike, I filled my starving belly with fifty feet of human waste from a sewage pipe and was hit over the head with the pump handle as payment.
