Or man dies after stabbing himself in the stomach and then happens to get tasered when he threatens to stab officers.

As usual the headline fails to reflect the actual facts.

Good to see the papers back on the attack against the police.

Linky?

Is this another taser death idiot, or the same one we were debating last week?

It's on the telegraph page as well, blaming the tasering with a brief mention of the guy stabbing himself.

Why is there no "Contact Us" page for the news outlets, I really do want the media to get a grip on this crap.

Are we surprised. It must have stuck in the throats of the Guardian and Mail (amongst others) to show some support during the riots. I did give it two weeks before it started, they haven't disappointed.

Has a cause of death been established?

I am mildly concerned about how Tasers and other 'non lethal' weapons are being portrayed, as they are not. But if this bloke stabbed himself to death then he stabbed himself to death.

I feel dirty for reading the gRauniad.

On the news this morning, post mortem revealed he died from self inflicted stab wounds. Being hit with a Taser had nothing to do with it. Still, let's not let the facts get in the way of a good (initial) headline, eh?

Well, what a surprise, stabbing yourself is harmful to your health, more so than a taser it seems.

I fking hate the media in this country, useless, moral-less bunch of scum the lot of 'em.

I was thinking the same myself yesterday when I heard the story of R4 - Same level of disregard for the facts there too!

I would suggest his brain stopped functioning quite a while before this particular incident.

Daily Mail-Guardian-BBC-The Sun to name a few.

All bastions of factual, unbiased reporting. (sarcasm made off)

Everything from mystery light caused Red Arrows crash (or actually an anti-collision beacon) to 'Police shoot herd of cows in front of terrified childer' despite the fact Police were never, ever there. (That's a Daily Mail gem). Or the topic of this thread. 99% of all the reports I've seen led with 'Taser death'.

I was even the subject of a front page article from my local paper. Headline was how I had rescued a man from a river by diving in to save him. The 'journalist' described how he witnessed my heroic actions, swimming against the current to pull him out. Strange that I never even got wet because I shouted at a guy who was swimming to come to the bank in order to stop him going near a wier.

If there are any journalists with integrity, they are vastly outnumbered by the lying wasters that populate the Daily Mail, Guardian and others.

Innacurate certainly - but hardly making you look bad.

Well, I've worked in the 'evil media' for nearly 15 years, and I've yet to meet any liars or wasters (ok, I've met a few wasters...). I know they exist though, as there's currently quite a big story about their nefarious deeds doing the rounds.

I also know that there has been a history of corruption in the police force, but it would be wrong of me to brand every copper a bung-taking, evidence-planting pig, wouldn't it?

TTwiggy - would you agree that for this story, using the headline "Man dies after police use Taser" although factual, is misleading? "Man dies after stabbing himself in the stomach" would be more accurate, wouldn't it?

I love the 'inaccurate' suggestion. It was a bloody LIE.

Are you really defending the utter crap the Daily Mail prints, where facts are just not required. How do you defend the 'Police kill man with Tasar' when he stabbed himself to death. Do those journalists stop and think what impact that can and does have on the Officers involved. Of course they don't. Their job is to sell papers. Facts and truth have nothing to do with it.

If an Officer lies or is caught on th etake, he/she quite rightly gets hammered and likely jailed. A 'journalist' who prints utter lies, just gets ready to write his next 'story'.
