One of the first generation of speed cameras was placed outside a nearby school. We used to set it off by "serving" with a tennis racket in front of it. Must have pissed off the cops no end...

there is one on the A4 approaching Bath from Saltford sited on a hill which is pretty easy to set off. its a 30mph built up area but you need an indicated 40 at least to flash it and the traffic is normally pretty heavy to make it a bit risky, early morning are a blast though.
if the police catch up with you though, i think they can do you for riding without due care or attention or whatever the bike equivilent is. they have been known to wait for chav scooter riders who set them off but swing a leg over their reg plate. they got caught by wearing the same clothes all hte time and the police recognised them!

In Preston on the A6 heading downhill towards Bamber Bridge there is a camera by the car auctions that me and mate used to set off regularly around 36-38mph. We did need to be tucked in and close together, but it became almost a daily routine
I've also been reminded by a that speed limits are for all road users, not just motorised ones. Again in Preston heading down towards the Tickled Trout/junction 31, I passed a dark blue Omega at a silly rate of knots, that happened to reside at the motorway police station nearby.

No actual speed cameras where I am in Essex, but those little LED 'speed limit reminder signs' that are sometimes attached to lampposts/signposts at the entrances to rural villages are a little 'hit-and-miss', whereby one day I will pass at 32mph indicated on the Cateye computer and it lights up like Christmas proclaiming the fact that the limit is 30mph. Other times I will deliberately 'go for it' from optimum run-up distance, pass it at indicated 37mph and it remains blank. When I do get it to light up, I feel a wave of pleasure at my 'success', but if I'm on a 'fast pass' and it doesn't light up, I always feel a twinge of indignation, like I paid for something that never arrived. Sad, or what?
