I'm looking for some recommendations for a nice cottage in Scotland.

We'll be heading up in October/November, I know the weather won't be the best at that time of year, but we have never been and have a weeks holiday to use up and don't really want to head abroad.

I've heard the Torridon area is beautiful, but I would be open to any other suggestions. Somewhere cosy with a log fire and nice views would be ideal. Also any other tips on where to go and what to see would be great too!

I know this has been done before but the useless search function is rather hindering me at the moment!

We used the following to get a week in a small cottage in Glen Affric in 2008:

Dear TomE,

lots of places in Lochcarron, the noisy favourite. Lochside village, shop/pub/butchers, usefully near to Skye, Applecross, Eilean Donnan, Gairloch.

Maybe PM getcarter, a local resident?

regards,
Jet

October can be lovely in the West Highlands - midge free and the roads are quieter. As mentioned, Lochcarron, Plockton, Shieldaig, Torridon and Applecross are the places you should be looking at
