I've been looking through the adds for another impreza as a project car for the track and a Q car on the road.

I want a impreza wagon 2003 to 2005. There is one marked as a cat D repaired in 2006 only 9 months from new.

My head is saying walk away as the accident repair was over the Market value in 2006 which is hinting that the accident was a big one (£14k). But the car is in great condition compared to others in the sub 4k region

If its been repaired properly + is cheap enough why not? But remember although cheap to buy will be worth less when it comes to sell but as it will be a track toy that doesn't really matter.

Johnny.

Not really - a good low miles one would be at least £5-6k+ I would say.

There's two ways of thinking about this. The car was quite new when it happened so would most likely have gone to an approved bodyshop and been professionally repaired, plus the repair was done 5 years ago so any issues should have been found by now! On the other hand, a newish car would need a lot of damage done to write it off...

Get it inspected, and if its a good example I'd go for it. Just bear in mind it may be harder to sell on again. How many owners has it had since it's been repaired?

I have decided against it for now.. I am now looking at the early 03 plate STi that are being advertised for under 5k.

I'd leave it well alone as there's a lot of good cars out there.

Walk away mate, if its a track car it'll be put under a lot mor stress than day to day driving. Unless you are going to stiffen the chasis up then shop around.
