Whats the general concensus on the sort of discount one would expect on a Cat D TVR ?

Mines a cat D and I got 7 years working in accident repair and for love or money I can not see where it was damaged!

But I still got mine for a super super bargain, so don't let it put you off

Had a couple of cat D TVRs and never had a problem with condition or resale, They offer great value for money and allow us to buy a car that may normally be out of our reach. We must remember that TVR has been out of business for some years now and Insurance companys do not like repairing due to possiable parts delays, long repair times, and there are few places that can do the job properly so lots get written off for very light damage.

I bought a CAT D Cerb, but from a very well known PH poster and total TVR nut in BCA.

Without the "comfort factor" of that, do the usual background of why it was CAT D, HPI check, get an inspection done, if the seller has photos of the repair work before/during/after then all the better, drive her and above all else be dis-passionate about any possible purchase...

It's not an easy one to answer. I have read on here that people expect 1/3 discount for a Cat D.

However, I bought a Cat D as a project and have spent an arm and both legs to get it in the exterior and interior colours I wanted, knowing that TVR are sadly no longer making my dream car. I also had a full rebuild of the S spec engine by TVR power, Nitrons etc etc etc. I have photos of the rebuild at all stages and will have an inspection done of the car prior to sale, if I ever sell her.

I don't think I would consider selling for 1/3 less than market value but it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. With all photos and receipts, I would be happy to seriously consider a cat D if it ticked all the right boxes and pay good money for it. I am however a little biased regarding mine but then I know it's history and current condition.

Whatever you decide make sure if buying a Cat D that you do all your checks and get an inspection.

My Cerbera was a CatD, was about 25-30% under market average. Gave 2 years trouble free motoring, and sold for what I paid. It had beed rammed up the rear, so to speak. Repaired well and looked great. So can be a good way to get a car cheap. Be aware though that a Cat D does not require an inspection to get back on the road, so as above, may be wise to get your own done.
