Complete Noob: Nikon 8700

Hello.

I know nothing about cameras or photography, but one has caught my eye and I'd be interested in your opinions.

It's a Nikon 8700, second hand, for £80. Comes with some extras, these are (copy + paste):

"Nikon TC -E15ED - this is a 1.5x convertor specially designed for the camera and takes the zoom to 420mm when used with the also included Nikon UR - E8 Lens adaptor
NIkon MB - E5700 Battery Grip, the camera can of course be used without this but this gives extended battery life and a choice of shutter releases
Nikon HR - E5700 - Rubber lens hood"

Does that sound like an OK deal?

Is it a recommended camera for a plank who doesn't know how to use them?

In my opinion if you are looking at a bridge camera, go for one that offers you manual zoom and focus control by rings on (around) the lens. You will end up frustrated at having to push buttons to control both of these function - which particularly in the case of 'zoom' will slow you down.
