Wasnt sure which of the many thrads this belonged in, so started a seperate one

I cannot believe the film I just saw on the BBC of the guy so casually walking up to a shop and setting light to it

The worst of this being:

1) Broad daylight
2) Not one person walking by (many, all appeared to be just ordinary people walking hom/going to shops/whatever) took a stand against the wker
3) The fire started very small, it looked as though he had gone yet people just stood by and watched it take hold - no effort whatsoever to put it out

My god, if the vast majority of people in this country are going to just stand by at such mindless arson/vandalism we may as well just turn off the lights now

Before anyone says, yes, I have seen the news about the guy who had a go getting beaten to near death but I'd like to think that any group of my friends would assist me in taking down the scumbag (or at the very least putting out the fire) rather than that poor chap who seemed to be on his own

If decent people dont start standing up to this soon, we're all fked, plain and simple

(and don't even get me started on those 2 slags that were interviewed yesterday)

furious

ETA:

Already had a high opinion of Dan Snow, but it's just increased tenfold

(also edited for ste frustration led spelling!)

If it's the same clip I saw monments late he's standing on the other side of the street with a gang of his mates so that's why no one tried to intervene. I reckon he'll be easy to identify which is good news.

I was shouting at youtube when I saw that! Even if nobody wanted to get physical with the guy, he just walked off and it took a few minutes for the flames to get really out of control, and every single one of those other shops around would have had a fire extinguisher in the back.
