About to set off for the Lakes, Maggiore and perhaps Varese. I quite like the sound of Varese, but know nothing about the place.
Does PH community have any suggestions for hotels / accommodation in the area?
Not too fussed about cost, more important that we have safe parking. For that, read we are going on a bike and I am very precious about my motorcycles.
Many thanks in advance.

We've just come back from Lake Como. Stayed near the town of Menaggio here. It's not the best (bit expensive, too many Brits etc) but it does the job and they have free parking round the back.

Lake Como wins for me every time, especially Varenna - far more 'Italian' than other towns around the lake.

This Hotel is delightful AND has secure parking.

Lake Como is really pretty but not cheap.

We stayed in the Hotel La Perla, Tremezzo. Great views, really hospitable owners (who, despite having guests with a DB9 and a Conti-GT in the garage, still appreciated a pretty yellow sports car! biggrin ), good breakfast. Only downside was the walk back up from the town, but the owners ran a shuttle bus twice a day.

Went to Como last year and stayed at a very reasonable and clean campsite near there.
