Fellow PHers I need your help. Whilst trying to write a sensible review on Car Hire in Italy, for a tourist/expat magazine, I realised that the "sensible" bit was totally superfluous when discussing the highly emotive subjects of Cars, Driving and Italians in the same article.

I certainly don't want to go down the tired old route of inventing new superlatives to describe the latest Italian exotica - even if you could hire them there? - or extoll the virtues of breaking every speed law on the Autostradas. There must be something more interesting to say - or rant about.......

In every Country there would seem to be a natural choice of hire car - what should it be in Rome, for instance - and why? What do you think?

BTW, I'm not a Journo' - just helping a friend.

has to be a fiat 500 for the city and an alfa for out of town, unless you can get something more exotic that is!

After much consideration Arbarth 500 for town and then an original 50's Testarosso for those blasts round the countryside.

Matt.

You guys can't have driven in Rome, the only way is in the back of a taxi with your eyes closed.
