Sorry to bring the highly debated car up again but Ive just read the news on the new ginetta f400, (looks great and almost like the maclaren) 70k car with a carbon tub and 3.7 ford V6, is it just me or is the M600 carbon tub a poor excuse (or one of) to justify the 225k tag?

Amongst other things Im starting to think noble totally missed the mark and an opportunity to sell in large numbers, after reading into the Ginetta history I think noble could have been so much more had they gone down a similar path...

Really hope they do a 100k car soon but I do love the M600 and really hope they do well with it.

Neither car has a carbon fibre tub - they both have steel space frames onto which carbon body panels are fixed. The F400 would seem to be a successor to the M400 - similar size/weight/construction/power and I think will generate much more sales volume at £70 - 100K. Whether it generates more profit is another matter. Anyone got any more news on Lee?

So what he actually did was buy the rights to the car, and then integrate the components he was already using in other cars, hardly a floor up redesign, this is a packaging exorcise, I hope he does well with it but, its not exactly what his PR is saying.

Pistonheads news story:
'So the new Ginetta version has a 3.7 litre Ford Cyclone V6 (as per the Mustang) nestling in its re-engineered metal tube chassis.'

If it is a Ford Cyclone V6 I think they only make them as 3.5 or 3.7 litre units?

Had a look at one of these at the FOS, the finish is a bit sketchy to say the least.

Isn't it rather slow as well?

The 0-60 time was quoted as over 5 seconds??? Or is that just the smaller one?

That 0-60 time was based on the base 300bhp version and the figures are not confirmed. The idea presumably is to offer choice of spec / power from £68k so that each customer can choose power outputs and driver involvement.
Considering the M400 was £60k in its last form, and that was 5 years ago, the F400 and the whole ethos around it is great.

they need to update the web site about the newer engine

so if the 3.7 fits in the F400 it should also fit into a Noble wink

would be interesting to know what the differences between the two engines are, an extra 700cc might make for a easier/more reliable way to make big power in the noble wink for those interested.

That's the G40R; 5.8 seconds, 2.0 litre and £30k.

Saw the G40R and the F400 over the weekend at Snetterton (BTCC bill also has Ginetta racing); the F400 is a lovely looking thing. Shame it's not a wee bit bigger though; it appealed to my wife even more.

1000kg, 410bhp and 0-60 in 3.7 seconds according to Ginetta's website.

From talking to guys who've gone to the G55(3.7) from the G50(3.5) the difference is all about torque. Factory upgrade available....very tempted!

Would anyone be interested in a factory tour/meet. I'll email them tomorrow and see if they are keen. Had a look at their factory tour video from the web site and I think it would be interesting to have a nose about.

this is the farbio... around 5 years ago I looked around one with a twin turbo audi engine making 600bhp.

I know they have changed the name and some components but its still the same design

Spoken to the facory and they are happy to organise a factory tour for us, so I shall start a new thread to get an idea of numbers.
