Hully Gully is great! I reckon a red not a black though, not technical but great fun. I like Sheep hill(bit of northshore) and Bottom heights sections. Either park in the south car park and ride the 8 or could park at Tosside village and ride in at the middle of the 8. A great route, I avoided dragons teeth(black at Whelpstone crag) was using a hardtail. Enjoy!
There are some nice sections but there's a big bit in the middle that's pretty much just assorted bits of rock on a very steep uphill, and I don't mean a couple of hundred yards either, I mean almost a mile or so of slippery rock.
I won't be going back, there isn't really any flow to the course. Grizedale is just as quick for me to get too, and a damn site more fun.

Gisburns good - but be warned, its nowhere near as 'flowy' as some other trail centres like Llandgela etc. Some very technical bits.
If your a good rider you'll be fine, but its genuinely somewhere where a less experienced rider might find they struggle more than they do at other trail centres. Can be a bit of a grind.
Good fun to ride of course, and challenging to ride fast. Cafe/pub at the bike shop is great, do a mean beef Chilli.

Well i went, had 2 minor(ish) offs, was really good fun, the best word to describe it is technical, i really enjoyed it because it was alot different than 'degla as pointed out its not as flowy..
Sheeps pass was fun, esp with the north shore part, that was my 2nd oof, it was raining, dabbed the front, SLAM, i was down!
Hully gully was really good fun, very high and fast,
i will be going again, maybe mix up degla and gisburn.

Glad you liked it, I went with a mate on Sat as we were discussing it, one off on the north shore(Sheep hill), it was a bit moist, right on the berm, nice bruise to show for it!
Feeling chuffed as I managed the black of dragons teeth at Whelpstone crag on my hardtail, everyday is an improvement!!
Did you park at Tosside? A good Pub/Cafe with a little bike shop, good for a pint and a chip butty after, good times.

I think you've summed up Gisburn very well. It's a 30 minute drive from me and I really enjoy riding there. It makes my local riding seem very 'plain' by comparison. Worth adding that if anyone is planning a trip there on, say, a Sunday morning, they should be aware that the Cocklet Hill car park can be overflowing by mid-morning. A victim of its own success maybe? If your a good rider you'll be fine, but its genuinely somewhere where a less experienced rider might find they struggle more than they do at other trail centres.
