Well , I have to say that after buying my integra 2 weeks ago, I am utterly shocked by the terrible service and customer care I have received from Trident Honda.

I bought the car 2 weeks ago from trident weybridge. When i test drove it I was told it made a whirring sound , and not to worry because it was the LSD, and it was quite normal. Two salesmen told me this. Two days after buying it, I wasnt convinced by the sound, so I took the car to a local dealership (where the service manager has one himself) and was told that the noise wasnt at all right.
I called trident back that day, and they insisted I get the work done under warranty at the local dealer. So I booked it in. On the thursday, the local dealer had the car all day and diagnosed two likely wheelbearing failing and possilby a cv joint failing too. They said the car was in no fit state to be released to a customer, and clearly hadnt been road tested properly.
They also said that there was no way they could do the work under warranty, because it had only just been released from the other dealer. And the claim would get turned down. They recommended I return the car to trident and demand a courtesy car until my car was repaired.

So I dropped the car off next day (without any apologies given incidentally) And I gave the service guy a list of all the problems diagnosed. Plus I noticed the car was also pulling to the left on braking. He wrote this all down. He promised me, the manager was dealing with the problem personally and that they would keep me updated.

6 days later, still no call.
So I ring them, and a rather clueless sounding service receptionist informs me that they want to strip the gearbox and need my permission before they apply for a warranty claim.

WTF????

I then asked her, " what about the wheel bearings?"
She said, " what about them?" ....thay hadnt even looked at them.
Also , they hadnt even looked or checked the braking.
She knew nothing about the list of items. They hadnt diagnosed them, and were only stripping the gearbox as a last resort.
God knows when I am going to get my car back, and I really doubt their ability to fix the problem.


Ive complained to Honda UK.
I am going to write to all the car magazines, andI may even try BBC watchdog if I get no results from the dealership soon.


I am so sick of this and whats worse is that I am really missing my Teg. (even tho I ve only had it on the road for 5 days of the 2 weeks Ive owned it).

Can't you just reject the car bearing in mind you only had it for a few days and it clearly isn't of merchantable quality?

sounds like it falls under the sale of goods act... ie wasn't suitable for the purpose it was bought (not roadworthy).

have you spoken to CAB? see what they recommend you do, assuming Trident won't give you your money back.

That is shockingly bad service. I have to agree with the other posts here - reject the car, leave them with it in bits and go elsewhere.

I can heartily recommend Clover Leaf Honda in Ascot. I don't know if they have any 'Tegs in at the moment, but give them a call. I have never had any problems with them - the guy who runs the service counter is really helpful.

Reject the car, then tell the Sales Manager to source a replacement, in the specification of your choice, with a full years road tax, a full tank of fuel and the first service free. Make them do the work. Get
agreement in writing and set a time limit (2 weeks).

My wife and I recently rejected a Ford Focus as we had ordered it with ABS and it didn't have it. We got all of the above and the car was replaced withing 3 weeks.

If you have problems and you have used a finance company to buy the car on HP, then get their legal department involved. The dealership wont like that at all.

Didn't I read somewhere that as part of your statutory rights, you have the right to change your mind about a purchase within a certain amount of time? Don't know if it was 7 days or 21 but if it's the latter you could simply demand your money back and go somewhere else.

Report all this to Honda UK. It at least used to be the case that Honda UK would jump up and down on dealers that were taking the piss with threats of taking their Honda franchise away.

well I finally got my teg back on thursday. As an apology, they dropped it back (the least they could do), they superguarded it (it looks the absolute dogs potato), and I got a bottle of wine too. At the moment Im so glad to have it back, that Im not thinking about further claims quite yet.( but I have registered a complaint in writing)

The problem was just a bearing as suspected by the local dealer, but trident, who obviously have no experience with tegs, took nearly 2 weeks to sort it. And they could only do that once they called a honda technician in.

Anyway, car has a whole years warranty, so I am happy now.

I am glad I didnt reject it because it really is a clean car, and there arent many shiny tegs around.

Have to say I really love this car. Theres something about it that I cant put my finger on. Its not just the fact that its new, (or new to me) because Ive had loads of cars before. But I really look forward to driving it to work or anywhere.

Right next stop is lowering it.....thinking eibach pros or tanabes 30%grip feel. Then exhaust. I want meat, but no resonance or motorway booming.
Any help appreciated.

Are you lowering it because of looks or because you know the handling will be better. Next to the Lotus Elan, the Teg is supposed to be one of the finest handling front drivers in the world - you may end up with 30% more grip (I dont believe that for a second though) and ruin the handling in the process. There is a world of difference between mechanical grip and handling (think Audi TT V porsche Boxster).

thats a good point, but I ve spoken to quite a few chaps on Integra forums, and they say that the lowring option is a good compromise for track work which I will do a fair amount of.

Still, I am going to wait till ove done a couple of days at bedford first, and then decide.

All my friends complain about their garage. I never, ever had any problems with my (3) Honda garages. Oh yes, they fitted a bad tire once: worn out after 30 miles . . . That's it.
