Provisional date for SCH 2012!

Hello all, The guys at Niagara have got back to me, they are suggesting the 8th July for SCH 2012. This is the date of their main event of the year, which is the South Yorkshire Emergency Services show. They always have classic cars there but with our help they intend to make this a bigger deal.
I think this will be great because there is loads of other stuff going on which will add to the interest as well as providing an audience for the cars. However, if a majority want to have SCH on a day with nothimg else happening then that's still possible. Also if there's a major reason why the date is a bad one then let me know. Most of the big shows around that time (eg Newark, Spa Classic etc) are missed.
Bar food can be made available on the Friday and a BBQ on the Saturday.
Also had a look at the Hoon, will probably be Snake Pass and Hope Valley which should be a good run.

No probs. You'll never find a date that suits everyone. I don't think too many of the S community do the Classic so hopefully date will work for most. Clashes can be good, the pre-80's meet clashing with Goodwood Revival will save me a fortune!

Yep I am up for this with a few newbie questions;
What are the usual timing arrangements? night before, night of etc and
is it man and machine only or man machine and wife, kids? etc
Tents / hotel?

Events vary as typically people organise for a couple of years and then ask for other to take over. Donnysoutherner has kindly taken the lead for next year and will no doubt post later.Yep I am up for this with a few newbie questions;

We have always tried to be inclusive, so car, driver and support sounds good
There will be camping on site and there are a wide choice of hotels within a few miles. Hope that helps a bit.

I'll be at LM Classic aswell. But well done on taking the initiative for SCH2012 - having done it myself a couple of times I know the difficulties of finding a date. Rest assured you'll not find a date to please everyone so don't stress youself trying to

1) First arrival from early evening on the Friday, most of these will camp but obviously there are plenty of hotels available if preferred. Bar will be open at the site and meals will available, if not the site has said that we can bring our own food and drink. Usually convoys are formed (via the forum) of groups from different parts of the country.
2) On the Saturday, chance to catch up with friends and chat, about 11ish we will go on a 'hoon', which this year will most likely be Snake pass, then Hope Valley Castleton etc, with lunch at a hostelry on the way, about 2 hours drive with the lunch break to add to that.
3) Saturday evening will be a BBQ and a few more beers.
4) Sunday will be the show day, this year as part of a larger event which is the Emergency services show. This includes various stalls and events, including other classic cars and a fun fair.
5) Finishes about 3ish with various prizes, raffle etc, everybody goes homw smiling!
Everybody is welcome, many come on their own, a few bring wives girlfriends. Last year very few children (mine was the only non-teenage), but this year I hope that the show on the Sunday might encourage a few more to bring the family.
