Hi,

I've persuaded 'mrsthewife' to go to a gig in London in October (at the Roundhouse) and being from the far reaches of the North, I'm not too sure what or where to look for decent hotel not too far from the venue (NW1). Train is booked, as will be the concert tickets soon - just need somewhere to stay for two nights and looking for a recommendation!! Two members of the band (there are only two!) have already given me recommendations via FaceBook (Marriott Regents Park and Holiday Inn Camden Lock), but as they live in London not sure if they have stayed there.

It's not 4star but save yourself some money over the Marriott and stay here

http://www.bestwestern.co.uk/Hotels/Swiss-Cottage-...

at the Best Western Swiss Cottage.....it's five minutes further walk from the Roundhouse than the Marriott. It's a nice period building on a quiet street and closer to the tube. We live very locally...family and friends have stayed there when they've been to visit us and we've run out of room...they all say it's nice and clean etc. The Marriott is a 10 min walk from the Roundhouse with the Best Western that little bit further.

There's nothing wrong with the Marriott but it's more than twice the price. How long are you really going to stay in the hotel for ? Camden Lock is an acquired taste.....it'll be madness round there at weekends. Depends how old you are and what you're in to.....personally I wouldn't stay round there.

What are you going to be doing during the day ?

I stayed at the Marriott RP back in June - pretty good hotel, good location, quiet. Stayed using points accumulated through work so didn't "pay" a bill!

Radisson chain is good and mostly 4*.

I stayed recently in the Radisson Edwardian Berkshire and had no complaints about it.
Check and see what hotel of theirs is near where you wish to go...
