You'll remember my noise thread earlier this week? To say I was amazed by all the offers of help and advice I received would be an understatement.

As a result of that thread I visited PHer haircutmike this morning, as he'd invited me over to try a few track day silencers he had for his Chim. We arrived and were warmly welcomed by hcm and family, had a good look at his car(s) and even had a tour of his lovely garden!

A pair of silencers reduced the noise right down, and to my surprise he offered to loan me them as his car is not going on track for a few weeks yet - he'd only just met me, what a nice gesture. So thanks to hcm I've taken the car back to the garage, popped the silencers on in 2 mins, and have happy neighbours. I also spent a nice hour or so in his company.

On the way home I passed another Chim and, sure enough, we exchanged a wave. Always pleasing, you just dont get that bond anywhere else biggrin

This afternoon another PHer Ballistic Banana has offered me an almost new set of silencers at a great price, so im sorted and wont need to borrow for long. You've got to love the TVR community here. As a result of a post I'm sorted. Thanks everyone.

She's not looking pretty, but it's solved a problem

Dear God they are shocking. Get the insert ones NOW. Though saying that you'll probably get 6 pages of sycophancy telling you how good they look hehe

Inserts didn't really work, we tried but the noise reduction was minimal. Even Hcm was surprised how loud my car is.

Don't forget, these are only to use in and around my garage, nothing more.

Need a couple of flags on those so people can see them. Reminds me of a window cleaner with a ladder on the roof hehe

Glad you are sorted though, how did the coffee and chat go with the people who complained?

Indeed. As said, these are the borrowed ones. This is a pic of the ones I bought.

Not one of the residents took up my offer of a meeting. I was at the garage on Saturday for quite a while but nobody came to see me, despite me hearing some movement.

Paul can you measure thew outside diameter of the tube that the clamp fits on, I think I may be able to cobble up a quicker clamping arrangement. smile
