Hi I've got an interview coming up to work in sales for a car dealership.

I have no previous experience in sales, but am very confident and enthusiastic.

Anyway I just wondered if anyone who worked in car sales could give me an idea of what to expect at the interview, and any tips please.

Thanks in advance.

Regardless of role, a quality employer will want to get a better understanding of the person in front of them and their levels of commitment, intelligence, motivation and future aspirations. If the role comes with learning bundled, then an ability to assimilate will also be of interest. If there is no immediate learning provided, then the expectation will be that you can contribute to the bottom line (profit) immediately. This will require previous sales experience and knowledge of sales techniques, ideally in that industry. As you say you have no previous, then the assumption is that training will be given. It would not harm however doing some previous reading to demonstrate commitment. Good luck!

Ask questions, make sure they're relevant. Things like what they expect of you, their sales stats, forecasts / goals etc.

Don't be surprised if they ask you to sell them a biro or something else either, had that a couple of times hehe

Visit a couple of unrelated dealerships as a prospective customer and seel how they handle your enquiry.

There are plenty of self-help to sales success items on the web and in book shops.

Most importantly, remember people buy people!
