I'll be in Capetown in December for a weekend conference. Never been to SA before and am considering adding on 3-5 more days. Any idea on what to do/see/add on .

Go to Hermanus down the coast and organise a shark dive in Gaansbai (pronounced Ghghans-bye).

Head up to the wine region around Franschhoek/Stellenbosch and find a restaurant in a winery and enjoy.

Simonstown beach so you can play with the penguins - mix this trip with a jaunt down to the Cape of Good Hope

Get up Table Mountain when it's clear - whatever your plans for that day.

Robben Island - book a trip out in advance

Be careful, just don't do anything stupid.

Puggit has nailed it, so all I'll add is to not bother with the Waterfront area as it's dull and very touristy, and to recommend http://www.constantia-uitsig.com/ for eating.

I thank you - too many weekends in SA on business, always tried to end up in CT instead of Joburg for the weekends wink

They use old planes on the CT route but if you fly without status on one of their A340-600s there is no difference to flying without stays on BA/Virgin.

The Beach at Simons Town is called bolders beach, you can take the train from Cape Town, its worth a stop a Muizenburg and have a meal in the station restaurant I think its called the Blue Bell. Have the seafood stew :Yum:

Robin Island - 1/2 day trip is enough.

Head out of town into the wine lands, go to the Boshendal vinyard and have on of there organised lunches on the lawn - The Snook pate is to die for!

Garden route up to Plat is amazing. Take a ride on the Blue train through the wilderness.
