What would you like to see a Commons Inquiry into?

With all the rubbish they actually do investigate, seemingly with only the intention of sullying one other MP's reputation, what should they be investigating?

king council tax. Why the f
k is it paid per household. I live on my own and pay Circa 80 quid a month. So why the f
k should my 27 year old mate and his 30 year old brother not pay it because they still live at home. If their house sets on fire, the fire brigade will still come. If their cars got stolen the police would still investigate (or probably not). They both have cars and drive on the roads that my council tax pays for (supposedly).

Because the vocal left didn't like the idea of the Community Charge. Ho hum.

I'd like to see an inquiry into the results of the HMRC audit of MP's expenses. Not allowing them to mark their own homework.
I'd like to turn the tables, and have a select committee of members of the public having the power to grill MP's on certain issues. And the MP's cannot run and hide, but as public servents need to face the questions we, as members of the public can ask
Oh, and the one about national debt was good, too

Why so many 19yr olds are STILL being packed off to Uni? (This is from the POV of me being packed off to Uni at 19).
When a change of tact of more people doing proper training, learning skills, etc etc, would make soooo much sense and solve so many problems as far as I'm concerned.
And Companies insisting on Degree educated students for jobs that do not require it - should be the ones funding these degrees if they are demanding them.

Plenty of alternatives to buying razor blades. You can use a straight razor and only shell out for strop paste or you can use an electric shaver which can be had for not much more than a packet of Gillettes. For me, it would be the cost of razor blades. It f

king dirty robbers.I'd like two commons inquiries.
1. Taxation, specifically examining the practical implications of a flat tacation system, or an indexed system such as the swiss use (IE Graduated into higher rates, but with many more smaller bands and proper allowances for dependents)
2. The liberalisation and de criminalisation of controlled substances. I am not a drug use, however I do think that as a society we should allow adults to make choices. There are substantial benefits to a liberalised system, and I think it is time we took a serious look. Followed by a referendum.

I know that you stated that it shouldn'r be a witch-hunt against any one MP. But I would really like to see 2 inquiries. One into how the Labour Government went from such a good position in 1997 to handing over a virtual bankrupt country in 2010.
The other one would be in to all the various documents, agreements and contracts in the last two months of Labour power. If these were properly investigated I would expect Blair, Brown, Campbell, Mandelson and Darling to be given porridge for what may as well be counted as treason.
Oh, weren't Blair's expenses missing when they went looking for them? Maybe they should look harder.

Incapable drivers - poor observation, MLMs, poor speed awareness holding up traffic on open roads driving under the limit, or over the limit in a built up area.
Why raising (or at least enforcing) driving standards will reduce accidents a lot more than scameras.
And ambulance chasers linked to insurance companies (no win no fee). My car insurance went up another 100 quid this year because of this.

Gold - What was the mentality/reasoning of selling it all at rock bottom prices and announcing the sale before hand..Pure Mental.
Mass Immigration - Who actually thought this was a good idea and apart from self gain (voters) what was the real plan. (Hell, I would just accept a plain diagram, to date nobody has explained why our whole country has been wrecked. People have hung for less!)
Blairs Expenses - Data just doesnt get deleted, its backed up. If its been deleted then why and by whom, suspect deleting it is a crime in itself.

You would have to change the law as well to allow questions from that. As the questioners have to be given parliamentary privilege. Oh, and the one about national debt was good, too
You would be limited to what most can say as well, due to type of document referring to.

I'd like an inquiry into the running of the country of the last twenty years, although these points below mainly relate to Labour, the foundations to our European connections started with the first Major government.
1. Signing up to the ECHR and how these laws are interpreted by the judges & politicians, I would like a full and transparent assessment of this as in many cases a right that was supposed to protect everyone seems to be abused.
2. A far reaching audit leaving no stone unturned into the nation's finances while Brown & Darling were Chancellors and how could a nation that collectively pays so much tax have nothing of value or substance to show for it.
3. The gold sale, especially who purchased gold since, what they did with it and who/what they sold it on to and where did any funds from subsequent sales lead to, and a thorough investigation into Brown & Blair's personal finances.
4. Signing up to the European Union and the transfer of (some) powers of a sovereign nation from Westminster to Brussels, again with a full financial audit with a comparison had we stayed fully independent.
That's what I was trying to write with my suggestion.1. Signing up to the ECHR and how these laws are interpreted by the judges & politicians, I would like a full and transparent assessment of this as in many cases a right that was supposed to protect everyone seems to be abused.

The CPU try had that chance, but stupid people were told to riot, and protest, without actually looking at what they were protesting over. They felt it wasnt fair that a house with 8 people in it had to pay less as a single person living next door. Chaos ensued.

It was a supremely fair system, and was rejected violently for no reason I can think of. Even the excuse that it was tested in Scotland doesn't really make sense.
