M3 E30 Touring
Discussion
This is the car BMW should have built. It would have beaten Audi to the sports estate niche, although the 325I Touring dose'nt hang about

I have had mine for a few months and its great, but remember if you do want to carry big loads the rear lights are not part of the boot door which creates a narrow access to the rear.
Just beed down to Dorchester a round trip of 350miles with no problems, average 27mpg.

OK, ever so slightly off topic, but can anyone recommend a 2nd hand car that compromises best on the following: fair Load space (hence touring/estate, but big hatchback would do), fairly fast and preferably rwd/4wd, reasonably cheap (to buy, for petrol/diesel(?), insurance and servicing)? I know it's a tall order, but a compromise is what I'm after. On the list so far are a mid-size merc estate(possibly a bit slow?) and aforementioned Bimmer 3 and 5 tourings....

Look no further than the Audi 100 S4/S6 avant. Not much slower than the RS2, 0-60 in 7 seconds, stacks of space, 4WD, top speed in excess of 150 mph. Built like a bank vault. And you can pick them up for just a few grand. I am a bit biased but it is easily the most versatile car I've ever owned.
Unfortunnately BMW doesn´t know how to create again cars like the E30.
For that reason so many people try to repeat the mith.
This isn't the first approach that I see. I have friend that from a 320is 4 door saloon build is own M3.
Nice car and a very fast one.
Why ( anyone can tell me ) brands like BMW , and others, refuse to make cars so insteresting and appealing as the "old" M3 , the Integrale, RS ( the True ones ) versions of Ford, and lot of others examples...
Nowadays all the car makers fill up the cars with useless eletronic gadgets, but the spirit, that really matteres is lost.

The E30 325i was a one off, The best estate ever made.
styling, performance (manual gearbox is awesome), reliability.
Had mine for 12 months 1990 'G' plate 105,000 miles I've done 10,000 in it.
Its had Plugs, filter, leads (leads ain't cheap), And thats about it. Its due for rear discs pretty soon.
What can I say "AWESOME CAR" and I'll never sell it cause I couldn't replace it. Cost me £2500 "BARGAIN"
