Boot on my Touran wont close !!
Discussion
Can anyone help me? The boot on my VW Touran (04 plate) will not close.
I have made sure that there are no obstructions, but it seems that the latch will not lock around the slam panel pin.
Ive shut it using my shoe lace for now - making my look like a yardie as i walk round tesco......

I have tried all the ideas suggested so far.
The solenoid that opens the tailgate when you place your hand on the handle is doing nothing.
It seems to be jammed in the open position.
A trip to VW main stealers tomorrow.
Ray there should be a keyhole (I think my a4 has one). Have you tried physically locking and unlocking using the key?The solenoid that opens the tailgate when you place your hand on the handle is doing nothing.

This might be of help.

Sounds like other people have had the same issue.

Ray as a last resort may i suggest removing to inside panel (shouldnt be too difficult) and having a look at the lock. Seems to be a known fail point on these.
Seems the screws holding it in place can come loose or water ingress can f
k up the lock mechanism. Sounds cheap enough to replace 40-50quid diy.
Might also pay you to try tracing the wiring on the bootlid to see if there is any point where it is frayed or heavily creased which could have caused the wires to break.

Hi - new on here, looking for some help.
Realise I'm resurrecting an old thread. On holiday in France with three young kids and - typical - get a problem.
The boot our own 06 Touran won't lock. Symptoms are that when I use the keyfob to lock the car there are no noises from the boot, and the lock mechanism won't click into place in the locked position when I try to move it with my fingers - it just rolls/rotates back to the unlocked position.
Is it possible to tell by this whether the problem is in the handle or with the lock?
Many thanks

Two potential problems from a quick search;
Locking Mechanism;

Cheap to fix in about an hour.
or Water in the electrics;

Check the fuses first!
Thanks. The plot thickens - there's rusting all around the numberplate lights on mine. Not uncommon. I noticed it about a year ago and naively thought it was 'just one of those things'. Turns out there's a 12 year anti-corrosion warranty. Mine turned 12 years old in Feb this year.
I suppose I need to get it open and see if there's any obvious sign of water damage.
