Does anyone out there know anything at all about/seen/driven the Jensen SV8?

Other than the Jensen website (and a What Car test drive )I cannot find any info on the net about the car.

I only ask because my local purveyor of motoring pleasure (HR Owen) wrote to tell be that it had become a Jensen dealer to replace its lost TVR franchise. Having not given the car a moments thought before, it looked quite appealing.

Cheers

Matt

I'm looking at an article on it from Autocar October 1998, looks quite interesting but pricey. But with a V8S name and a 4.6 V8S under the bonnet it can't go far wrong!

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S 4.6)

I had one on order but cancelled due to cash issues ie I have got enough! During that time the car was delayed about 18 months. I was at the factory for the offical launch and have all the PR material, if you mail me your details I can copy it for you if interested. The the car looks and sound fantastic, it is built like a "mass produced" car using similar presses and techniques for the metal, ie it is not a fibreglass car and the build quality was fantastic on the pre production cars I saw.

The Engines is the Ford SVO cobra engine which is hand built in the states. The company is run buy the ex-MD of Rolls Royce and they raised some of their money by getting their dealers to invest in the company, so they may be keen to actually sell some.

Although I cancelled my order I did get a letter from HR Owen St Albans saying they had their demonstrator! Personally I'd still love one and with production aimed at around 250 cars for the first year they should be pretty rare.

Well I am still waiting to see a production version that I can test drive. I have had my money down for several years, and have yet to hear it running, let alone drive it.

Whilst my history with prototypes is not good (A long story) I have been nagging the companh on and off for the past 18 months, and have yet to get any closer. It is only an act of faith that stops me claiming my deposit back, but even this is getting tough, since I am waiting to replace my existing car with something exciting RSN.

I assume there's somewhat of a waiting list then?

Perhaps it's like waiting for buses (not that I do it much).

You wait for ages, then 3 turn up at once ;-)

Have a look at last week's Autocar where they do an article on all the convertibles available in Britain. They give the Jensen 2 or 3 out of 10! Can't quite remember their reasons!
Having said that I think they look pretty good. I followed a red one with trade plates down the M6 in February for around 20 miles.
Cheers..... Andrew

Sorry but I think it is unatractive and is IMO already begining to look dated before it is even released. In the same way as a Chimaera looks dated when stood alongside the Tamoras at Silverstone last weekend. Not that in isolation you would call a Chimaera dated but when you see how designs have moved on in the last 10 years I am afraid the Jensen will look like a 90's car when it gets into the showrooms.
