Most of you who know me are aware that I have a Griff with an LS1 fitted. Sadly Engine went after only covering 3000 miles?? I need desperate help to find someone who can rebuild my engine properly any ideas or contacts would be greatly appreciated. Sportmotive have my engine and bits and would be able to arrange delivery of engine and collection once completed to be refitted into my car. I am hopping to get the car back on the road by September so any information or contacts would be urgently appreciated.

Micheal sadly engine builder was unable to tell me what caused the problem and wasn't able to fix the problem without it costing me yet more money. I had a problem with that considering he hadn't done a proper job in the fist place so need to find some one who knows what they are doing and looks after there customers.

Sportmotive who built the car for me kindly removed the engine at no cost and tried in to get the engine builder to help without success. hopefully we will be back on the road soon.

Thanks for detials on Dyno Torque and John Sleath I have not used them before and will make contact.

Hi Craig, Thanks for your posting I will be in contact over the weekend regarding our options. Ian had the Engine returned to us by the original building who believes he isn’t responsible for building an engine that failed dramatically after covering only 3000 miles. We can’t name the individual for policy reason on PH however anyone wishing to know can email me directly. The Block is still usable but we need to check the internal part to see what we can and can’t be used. A lot of new parts where paid for but, not sure they were fitted. Ian may call you directly.

Most chevy v8 will keep going way way past 100k miles,

I think finding the cause why it went would be number 1 on your list,

I presume it was a 2nd hand engine rebuilt?

Alex totally agree chey engine go on for miles and we still can't believe this one went bag after only 3000 miles.

Our engine was supplied to an LS Specialist and based on his expert advice was completely rebuilt internally. Originally the block had covered 12,000 miles before being removed from a Monaro. Our first task is to fully understand why the bearings went after only covering 3000 miles.

Thanks for details on Knights Racing Services, we haven't used them before and we will keep them on record.

Jesus, that's rough. I thought V8s were supposed to be bulletproof, hope you get it sorted out soon.

Again, Craig at Dyno Torque, would say he will be your most cost effective person, and lots of experience.

I'd question this to start with ...... and not knowing the full story my first port of call would be trading standards if this "experts " handiwork only lasted 3k

I have been speaking to trading standards on friday who where very helpful and very interested in what I had to say. I also forwarded old emails between the builder and my self so fingers crossed.

Why not post some pics of the damage on the engines forum to poll the experts views on what the cause of your problems were?.

You may get some oddball comments, but there are a few genuinely smart contributors over there that are bound to give you some food for thought.

As usual a full & detailed background is likely to help in the diagnosis, such as the engine source & condition, upgraded parts, initial start-up, running in procedure and lubricants used.... ISTR the engine you had sourced for you was a bit of an odd ball to start with wasn't it (or was that another one)?

Thanks Dave thats a good idea I will ask Ian to see what he can do. I will not be able to post anymore on this for now as I am back in hospital tomorrow and not sure for how long. Will ask Ian if he could post images of engine see if we can get any advice.

Hi Angus.
This is bad news and i know you dont need it.
I hope you get it sorted soon. My engines in a complete mess also. I think by the same bulder but i know all my damage was caused by a mistake on my part.

Lets hope if it is the fault of the builder he will step up and help out as much as he can.

Hi Angus what a crock...sorry to read this mate

I have heard good news of the people that Anthony (snookes) and Mac (macdeb) recommend, have been there myself they appear to be on the money, and know that they have done a few LS's..

More importantly take care of yourself hope the hospital stuff works out well, let me know if I can help in any way
