after 10,000 miles in the Spyder - I ended up with its first and only problem - the radiator on the drivers side (front) was permanently on!!!

Took the car to Reading for a first diagnosis - left it with them overnight whilst in London - the verdict - it was either the fan/the fan control unit or the main control unit - impossible to tell straight off.

Anyway - booked the car back in - Cayman S as a loan car - 3-4 days later after changing the fan didnt make any difference - car stays in and I ASK for a crappy loan car (VW POLO) as we are doing 2 weeks of MAJOR DIY and a Cayman wasnt practical.

Anyway - after 2 weeks in total in Reading (+ a couple of other minor warranty bits - new steering wheel + new soft-top tags) I got my car back and its back to being perfect once again!!!

It was the main control unit that was at fault I believe.

VERY pleased with the service and the quality of the work + communications - thanks to Jenny in particular for all her help and the extra 4 days of POLO ownership that I really needed (IKEA/Tip/moving crap around etc etc) - much appreciated.

How bizarre. Mine seems to have developed the same fault! I noticed backing it out of the garage the other day. I have been meaning to get it booked in to Bolton but have been busy at work this week.

Wow, it is funny how perception changes with marque

Imagine I have a Ford Focus

After 10K miles it develops a fault with the radiator that the dealer is not able to identify after having the car for 3 or 4 days.

They take the car for another week and a half to get to the bottom of the problem and also have to fix/replace the steering wheel and some catches.

Imagine the furore that would cause in General Gassing!

Stick it in the Porsche section and you have the owner thanking the dealer for taking two attempts and two weeks to sort a radiator fan that was stuck on.

What an understanding lot we are.

I've always said, (and most companies don't seem to realise this), that its not things going wrong that p!ss customers off, it's how the resolution of the problem is handled.

Nice to hear a company getting it right.

Happy to hear that Jenny's still there and that you're happy with the outcome.

She was a wonderful lady to deal with when I was still taking my car to Reading.

(It's a massive load off being rid of the rest of them, though.)

This was part of a Masters degree my girlfriend did - it's referred to as the "halo effect" when something's gone wrong and has been dealt with very well people are more pleased than if it had just worked as expected in the first place, and they are more likely to recommend the business.

They are quite powerful and blow out into the front wheel arch. On mine, drivers side is going full blast but passengers side is doing nothing. Came on when engine was stone cold too.

Not sure Reading will be happy with this post as are they not the "experts" that only a Carrera GT can be serviced at.

I am sure they would be disappointed and embarrassed if indeed this was correct - which it is not - read my reply above and stop fisting OPC's FFS!

Tbh if this was a ford the amazing part of the story would be about it being out of the garage for 10k miles!

And I used Reading back in 2006 and found them to be extraordinarily inept, incompetent and deceitful. Never, ever again. furious

Just goes to prove they're not very consistent I guess smile

Out of interest would the boxster have been more practical for the diy stuff? Seems like they saved you hiring a car.
