Yes, pdavison all would be welcom.Mid June-on would be fine with me. I'll try and think of a suitable pub with some good roads nearby in Surrey area.Anyone any ideas ?

There's a pub at Forest Green South of Dorking was used recently by Porsche Club G.B. It is surposed to be very easy to find and there are some good roads round there--think its called The Parrot. Will find out more and keep you posted guys.

Location seems fine to me, but I would be careful with 'convoy drives'.
These invariably turn into a road race, and most people don't know the route/gatsos etc. It's fine if everyone agrees to be sensible (it can be done... just) but as soon as someone goes hairing off into the distance, you can often count the minutes before someone gets pulled by the police/crashes/breaks down/overtakes dangerously etc.
Not saying I wouldn't do it, just that everyone has to have their sensible head screwed on (easily removed if you want to prove Autocar's 0-100-0 stats for your car in front of other pistonheaders ;-)
Must be the Rover second car talking!

Hmmmn. I've only been on a few, I suppose, and everyone was entirely sensible on those occasions - more of chance to enjoy a nice road with "traffic" in front and behind that actually looks nice...
Domster,
I've got the bloody Rover today, knew it was missing something tho - You've hung onto the Werthers, tartan rug, Rover driving attitude and Cleenex (not going to speculate on what you need these for tho )
We're all grown men here, well, I'm nearly grown anyway.
Go for the convoy, mucho more fun.

Dunno why you're so keen, Mr S... I think your drive back from the crazy bear was a case in point!
If you hadn't have put the brakes on for JeremyC, I'm sure his overtake would have put him into the Stadhampton scenery ;-)
Last convoy blast I went on was an Esprit owner's run, with about 25 cars in tow, in my LC. It was interesting to see how the cars drove against each other - I had an S4S in front and an old Turbo behind, and I reckon they were all quite evenly matched at 8/10ths on cross country roads. However, after five minutes of careful motoring people started overtaking like crazy (inc me, but I had to keep up, eh?!) and I was doing more than a ton on stretches of the A34. Went through a hidden gatso, along with my wingmen, at about 30mph over the limit, but it didn't flash - just goes to show how a little red mist can take over. Oh, and then I massacred a stupid arsed pheasant who ran out in front of me - didn't like the look of those Esprits, went for the big green fridge instead. No damage luckily, but I wouldn't have been going so quickly if not showing off in convoy.
Went to the Nurburgring with BMW M series owners once, and the sanity lasted for about five miles from calais. Then it was 140 all the way... hmmm. Fun but not that clever really. Two cars came back on transporters (after being eaten alive by the 'ring) as if to prove a point.
Most sensible people in convoys are the Lotus Carlton owners' club, amazingly. They stick to 80 all the way - and have a real 'let's stick together in a pack' mentality. Bizarre to see a line of 10 all trundling along the M11, with Mondeos pushing past!
That said, we're all sensible people, so I'm sure a nice convoy outing could work. As long as I have my werthers and tartan rug to combat the red mist.
