Hi all,

Our cat (silver tabby) has a soar on the inside of her front left leg.

She has been to the vets previously and said it was dermatitis and gave her a steroid injection. This did cause her to stop licking/biting and the redness reduced but didn't completely heal.

It has now flared up again and has appeared on the other front leg too. She is booked into the vet on Saturday and I'm guessing they will just give her an injection again.

In the mean time is there anything we can do to stop her licking/biting it?

Yes pop down to the vets and get a lampshade collar. My cat occ gets hotspots which I have to put a steroid cream on but it's only a collar that really breaks the licking cycle.

Hope that helps until your appt.

Took her to the vet today and now has a lampshade collar and she is not happy at all but nevermind.

She goes back in Monday for a skin biopsy to see if there is a underlying problem. £702 thank god for insurance!

£700 for skin biopsies, seriously? We are not a cheap practice but that'd be steep even for us. Having said that skin biopsies is a sensible move, fingers crossed it's nothing to difficult to treat smile

Bit of an update,

Had the biopsy done it found nothing but she also had an allergy test done which showed she is allergic to fish and grass.

Anyway she had another steroid injection but again it has come back and has also started popping up in other places not just her legs.

She's going to the vet again on Saturday but we are getting frustrated as nothing seems to permentally solve the problem.

Nobody likes seeing an unhappy cat.
