Budget accomodation in New York

Hi all,

Just looking for advice from those who have been. As long as its, central, clean and safe we'll be happy, 2 of us going for 8 nights probably in November, cheap as possible please.

Backpacker hostels ( Hostelling International) would be my first attempt at budget accommodation.

In the village, not en-suite, but it is streets ahead of a hostel and hardly any more expensive.
