3 Day Vegas Excursion (from Cancun)
Discussion
I've got a 2 week all inclusive holiday booked to Cancun for September. She wants a relaxing holiday while I'd rather do something a little bit more exciting.
I've thought through the logistics of a 3 day trip to Vegas mid-way through the stay. I am just looking for confirmation that I haven't missed something fundamental which would kill the possibility of the trip, before I book the additional flights.
The flights from Cancun to Vegas are indirect with continental (8 hours although we are comfortable with that). The cost is circa £300 return. Got prices for a couple of the usual hotels at a cheap price of £150 for the 3 nights.
Anybody got any input which may help me?

So you’ve paid for 14 nights and will potentially miss out on 3 of those? Do you need to get to LV and then back to Mexico to get your flight back? This is a fairly popular twin centre holiday and I think you’d have been much better off booking at such from the off OP, i.e. you’d fly to Vegas first then Cancun then home. If you’re wanting to do it as your post reads sounds like a waste of time and money TBH.
Cancun doesn’t have the Casinos but huge nightlife and plenty to do other than lay on a beach.

What about this? Is this a bad idea?
Manchester to Vegas (one stop)(15 hours)
Vegas for 5 nights
Vegas to Cancun (one stop) (6 hours)
Cancun for 8 nights
Cancun to Manchester (one stop) (13 hours)
I'll book the hotels direct. It comes out dlightly more expensive to do it like this although there is one less flight involved.
Can anyone spot any potential problems travelling like this?
Apologies for dragging this out, never done it before quite like this and am a little bit apprehensive.

So is your 2 weeks AI in Cancun booked or not? What you wrote is certainly feasible but you should be able to get direct flights from Cancun to Manchester, just try Thomas Cook and Thompson if you’re struggling. I like doing multi centre trips it’s just trying to strike the balance and not spend too much time in the airport. A mate did Vegas then Cancun a couple of years ago, for me I’d rather do Vegas as a separate holiday with either a self drive in California or what I did a couple of years back NYC, San Francisco and then Vegas. Good thing about keeping within US the internal flights are much quicker as you only have to pass through immigration the once.Manchester to Vegas (one stop)(15 hours)

Some holidays are cheaper using a package deal but in my experience DIY is much more flexible and cheaper in the main. On the face of it seems a bit complex and daunting not to have the physiological safety net of having an agent do it for you but once you do you’ll wonder why you haven’t always done it that way! Good thing about DIY is your hotel rates will be fully refundable if a deal comes along for a better hotel. Been to Vegas several times booked 3* standard and ended up with 5* for less than 3* money with last minute deals.
