Thinking of buying a Raleigh Pursuit road bike - http://www.raleigh.co.uk/ProductType/ProductRange/... - as a bit of fun for the weekends. What are they like in regards to build quality and are they generally any good?

They're rubbish, heavy, uncomfortable ride, crappy brakes and shifting...I would suggest you look at slightly higher end bikes.

The raleigh airlite range are good entry level bikes but I would not go below there in the raleigh range.

Cycling+ did a test on £500 road bikes in June. They gave the Airlite 100 4* out of 5
