Through work I get effectively free use of a sports and social/ conferencing facility. I have spoken to them and they would be happy to host SCH 2012 next year. This could either be as a stand alone event, or they were in any case thinking of organising a bigger car show, with both Classic cars and new cars on show. We could chose either.

The camping would be free and on the same site as the show (there is a large sports field attached, there is a bar (about £2.50 a pint) and food available. They would be able to lay on a BBQ at reasonable rates (about £5 per head, depending on what we want, or we coulod still do our own. There are toilets, showers etc. and if enought people were interested they would even lay on breakfast.

If you want to have a look: www.niagaraleisure.co.uk

Almost forgot! The venue is in Sheffield, very close to Hillborough Football ground on the north side of the city. It offers opportunties to do all sorts of things in the city if people would want to, with a Hoon into the Peak District on the Saturday.

It's a very different venue from Weston Park, but IMHO offers everything we need. If a majority are happy with this, I'll be happy to organise it. Won't be offended if people would rather do something else though.

I'd say go for it - I'll assist you with the advice from the last 2 years and also with a website, signup process and invoicing etc as I've done for the last 2 years if you want me to. Change is as good as a rest. It has recently got even more important that I drop from primary organiser soon as I have just been given a new job working in whitehall which will take up too much of my time to do SCH justice

It seems to tick most of the boxes... camping, bar etc wink

looking at streetview we could do a deal with the body-shop next to the entrance and get some work done too hehe

Sounds good to me, and I like the sound of the Hoon... Snake Pass would be within reach and would enlighten those from further south of the delights of northern road surfaces hehe

I'm up for it

K wink

Simon

Revlimiter & I would be up for that - no S next year though (it's probably still going to be in bits wink).

It's ideally situated for us as Revlimiter's parents only live up the road - could even bring the kids along as well smile

If anyone wants to volunteer for organising the raffle contact me & I can let you have all the contact details for those that have donated prizes in the past.

Cheers

Fair play for volunteering, I must say when I saw the photo's of this years event I felt really deprived, it looked great fun. Good luck, I hope I can join in the fun in 2012

Sounds great!! Free camping? Beer at £2.50 a pint? Showers?! Hell, even a sports field as a nod to the Olympic year!! Well worth the trip from 'Down South' I say.

I'll take that as a yes then, stand by for more details as I get round to it.

Mark, thanks for the offer of help, I'll definitely need your expertise and the website.

So come on then, who's going to offer to do the raffle???

Drop me an email with your contact numbers and we'll have a chat in August when I'm on leave unless you need to book venue further in advance in which case I'll ring you one evening over next week or so

Simon, it looks really good. Thank you for stepping forwardclap

Perhaps a variant of the chatsworth hoon may be good, but IIRC there are some excellent roads to the north too smile

Donny

I know the venue well used to live in Hillsborough and a cracking idea.

Totally different to Weston Park and therefore for something different, I love it, we could even have a night out around Sheffield which is always good.

Couple of questions/ideas

I take it a drive around the peaks is the plan for a Saturday hoon?

Do they have 24hr on site security I know the police dog training kennels are at one end so assuming they do as we are in the middle of town not in the middle of nowhere

One of the Sheffield indys has a rolling road could we organise something on that so we can play the how many horses have you lost game.

Chaps

This could be good - the Indy referred to is Raceproved (who donated an hour on their dyno for this year's raffle) - if the venue is agreed upon I am more than happy to contact them to see what they can offer.

Sheffield is also the home of RT Racing - again, I am happy to contact Richard to see if there is anything he can offer.

Obviously, plans will evolve over time, but might be worth exploring the options?

Cheers
