When 2 become 1
Discussion
I'm sure most of you have seen my constant plugging of my BeOne for sale but i thought i'd share my developments. I currently have 3 bikes (one too many for me) my most recent is the Giant Defy 3 which i love, i definitely prefere road cycling to MTB'ing. Then i have my Beone and the Saracen i built up. The Beone is a great bike, good spec and i love the colour. The saracen was built up from a halfords special with new forks, wheels, crankset and magura HS33s. Problem is i didnt get out on it much, it looks great, was a nice idea, then i actually rode it. I thought the small DJ style frame might be an issue but a few small trips on it werent to bad, i did 15 miles (meant to do 30-odd) up and down the canal path last night and god was it awful the fame was just too small, it felt cack to say the least, the geometry was all wrong, and not that it would have altered the ride but the crank brothers candy pedals i tried out were shockingly bad too. I came home disappointed and annoyed that i was a bit gung-ho building it.
So after that shock i thought there is no way in hell im selling the BeOne now! Ill put the saracen back to how it was and flog it cheap.
Still keeping up being gung-ho i decided im going to swap the bits i got for it on to the Beone and make a really good bike up, fortunately all the bits i got for the saracen should fit and are better than the standard parts on the Beone. The only thing that will be left over are the HS33s which are a shame but ill flog them easy i expect. So on the BeOne the rubbish rst gilas will be gone in place of the better Rock Shox Toras, the basic shimano cranks will be replaced by race face evolve triple crankset and BB. The Halo combats and hope skewers will cross over. Hopefully a few of the other small bits will go on.

So hopefully ill get greasey over the weekend swap what i can and get the LBS involve with the IS to post mount bracket i need, and the new 6 bolt discs ill have to get.
Overall i think the bike will come out better, lets see what the lovechild of these two looks like.

I'm not sure that I would swap the combats until I'd compared the weight of the existing wheels, you'd get a better return on selling the combats as well.
I agree with this, you will also have no problems selling the maguras like you said, very popular still.I can imagine the saracen has a very steep head angle and is quite twitchy really? I think the little jump and 4x frames are quite extreme. A good idea in principle but only good at what they are designed for.
Even my old stumpjumper with a 71 degree head angle can be a bit much on the steep stuff.
