Yes 20kg olympic bar, 10kg normal straight free wieghts bar down the gym.
Interesting, not sure which one the gym bar is. I'm 5'11 and it is a fair few inches taller than me, is that the length of the 10k one or 20?Lankilybuild said:
Okay it must be an olympic bar then, I have often appreciated those allen bolts as a car enthusiast I pay attention to fixings, sad I know! Still surprised that it counts as weight though.
Why? - you're lifting it in conjunction with the weights you've loaded onto it. It's a set weight of 20kg so you know exactly how much you're lifting. Just be careful, the allen bolts are very prone to coming loose, with disastrous and embarassing consequences!
The way there usually set up.
standard 5 ft bar - 7 kg
standard 6ft - 10 kg
standard 7ft - 15kg
Olympic 5 ft - 10 kg
Olympic 7 ft - 20 kg
Never seen a 6 ft Oly so far but would assumer 15?
Olympic doesn't refer to the size of the bar but the plates it takes.
And you definitely count the weight of the bar!
