Afternoon all

My Missus is in New York for a few months and i was thinking of going over to see her for a few nights. So she doesn't need a flight either way, she just needs somewhere to stay for 4 nights at the end of her trip so i though i could surprise her and she could just stay with me. The internet searches dont give the option to add an additional person to stay in the room, would i need to call the hotel seperately to explain or should i just try smuggle her in? Would i be right to expect a surcharge for this as well?

thanks for any advice...

They aren't likely to care, in the main you pay in the US you pay for a room and not the number of people in it.

The internet searches i've done include the cost of a flight for an extra person. Thinking about it, i haven't tried booking the flight and hotel seperate.

Thats why i kept it out of the lounge and thats the good thing about these smaller sub forums, you get a different, perhaps classier level of banter wink

I would sneak her in....a)I don't think they would notice tbh and b) im not sure they would care as you generally pay for the room.....I have never had a problem doing it.

This. You are in 99% of cases paying for the room anyway.

the best way is to check the hotel terms and conditions

it will say base rate is for 1 or 2 etc

if it says base rate is for 2 - then you'll be fine to take her to the room at no extra cost - just as courtesy let the hotel know.

if base rate is 1 then you may have to pay extra upon check in.

make a dummy booking for hotel only first with one person and then same hotel but with two - if price increases then you'll have to pay at the check in

I stayed in the Hilton in Montreal and they had absolutely no problem allowing my girlfriend to stay with me, just let them know beforehand as it is polite.
