What happened to my hand?

To cut a long story short, In fit of rage I punched a wall pretty hard on saturday afternoon and a lump appeared instantly just before where my wrist starts in line with my little finger and the one next to it. I took myself to hospital as I had thought that that is not a good sign. I had an Xray and the doc said that three people had checked it and she was surprised that there is no break. She strapped it up with a support and told me to take ibuprofen and come back wednesday to be seen by the fracture clinic.
Since then my whole hand has swollen and bruising has appeared on my palm on the little fingers side to the middle of my hand, my wrist is bruised and the knuckle of my second little finger. it hurts to move my wrist up but my fingers feel fine to move other than being a bit tight probably from the swelling.
what I want to know is that if it isn't broken then what have I done. Any ideas?

Go back to the hospital, don't take no for an answer, tell them I sent you.
Incidentally, if it's a break in the hand, wouldn't they just strap it up and te you to take lots of Ibuprofen anyway?
Well yes they would and I wouldn't have gone but the lump that appeared was instant so I thought I would get it checked.Go back to the hospital, don't take no for an answer, tell them I sent you.

The moral of the story is to get walls made of marshmallows. Kinder on the hands, they provide a tasty snack but not so good in the event of a fire.

Couple of painkillers & you'll be fine!
