I've just noticed that some has very kindly given my 993 a serious bump & grind on the rear wheel arch and driven off without so much as a "by your leave"!!

I was using the car a fair bit on Friday and think it probably happened in the supermarket car park, even though I'd taken all the normal pains to park it at the far side of the car park. No chance of ever finding the scroate that did it, so I'm left with either picking up what is likely to be an expensive tab to have the dent knocked out and the wing/bumper resprayed OR losing my no claims bonus. Lovely!

Whoever it was, I hope God ps on you today!

Has this happened to anyone else? Did you ever catch those responsible? Did it end in violence if you did? (BTW, I wouldn't dream of condoning violence but if I had caught the git responsible this morning, I probably would have killed him!)

Bummer.

I usually make a note of all the cars parked directly around my car, reg numbers, make etc when in car parks.
Its a bit extreme but gives me peace of mind.

My cars are a little bit scratched and bumped here and there, with little bumps here and there. But under the bonnet and under the car is always a perfection that rules. And, when the green light goes on all the a******s are just immaginating how can should be to drive such cars.

So, relax, if the car if perfectly efficient, who cares about some microscopic scratch. Yes, if I could catch him I could snap his neck, but that happy thing never happened, so who cares.

Microscopic scratch I could cope with! This is more like someone's taken a hammer to the bodywork and a sander to the paintwork

Sorry to hear about your car, I was in the supermarket at the weekend.

Im sitting in the car after putting the shopping in the boot, just messing around trying to get the faceplace on the stereo look up and see a shopping trolly rolling down hill towards my car , I jump out and just manage to kick it out of the way. Being one of those half trollys it would have quite easily have taken out a head lamp . I made sure it was fully in the trolly park.

If I had seen who did it I would have given them such a mouthfull , some people just dont care about anything and seem to drift along in a daze .

As I've posted before now I think, I now have about £600 worth of "supermarket" damage to the puma.. including both front wings being dented and the back bumper scraped..

..one incident wasn't in the supermarket, it was in a hotel carpark where I saw a bloke open his drivers door and drive the corner of the metal into the front wing.. he then had a look, and drove off before I could get near enough to stop him.. didn't get his plate either...

..nice dent and paint off down to the metal... dickd

I was actually sitting in my car the other week while some daft bint touch parked her Golf Cabrio into the front of my car.I sounded my horn and she did it again. When she got out of the car I gave her a piece of my mind, and all she could say was that she wasn`t aware of anything!

That was one handy thing about my old cherokee, you could park it anywhere and it didn't matter a damn.

Had the door into mine happen whilst I was sat in the passenger seat. Wound window down and pointed out the new dent and scratch to have a blank look from this lady, with a few generations in the back, "wasn't me, got witnesses". Should have waited till they went in then WHAMO. Not me gov, no witnesses.

Sorry to hear about that CeeGee, same thing recently happened to my missus's Pug. £600 to sort out the damage.
Only 3 weeks before some doodering old coffin dodger used it as a reversing stop in the bank car park. I caught him in the act. I confronted him with the details, especially the Punto bumper shaped dent in the wing. Silly old eejit denied it to the last, despite being caught on camera and being seen by 3 other people. Unbelievably he drove off while I was taking issue with him. Luckily I got his plate and the Gardai got him to cough up his insurance details etc.

Were there any cameras where you parked your car ?
If not, it must be one of the few places left where there aren't. A letter to the supermarket perhaps ?

I'll need to back and check for cameras but unfortunately, I was in three or four places that day on business and it could have happened in at least three of them, two of which definately don't have cameras.

Daft question but if you do manage to get their insurance details, do you still have to have the damage repaired on your own insurance and then leave it for the insurers to sort matters out amonst themselves? And if this is the case, do you lose your no claims bonus anyway?

Not that it makes any feckin' difference to me!

Seen this type of behaviour several times now. Wife even saw one in Waitrose car park not long ago. Car reversed into another TWICE and drove off while people were trying to stop them....

Fortunately took the plate and left a note on the screen. Dont know if it was followed up, but it is the "oh, it wasnt me" attitude that really sucks - and blows - at the same time!!!

Cheers,

Paul

If someone blatantly lied to my face like that I'd feel obliged to return the favour by introducing my heel to their door panel.

your insurance company will only remove your no claims bonus whilst the issue is in debate... once a claim is settled and they have their money back from the other party, they have to re-enstate it... even if you have changed insurance companies in the meantime (speaking from experience)

Cheers
Matt.

I suppose the next big thing in car security should be survailance cameras on the wing mirrors bumpers etc, that automaticaly arks with the car alarm system, this footage would be then used as evidence, I don't think this would be that difficult to install either, as cameras are already used exteranly on some cars as rear view mirrors, my heart goes out to you CeeGee.

Yesterday afternoon as myself and a couple of colleagues were enjoyable our cups of coffee and peering out of the canteen window into the car park of the building next door (Stevenage Royal Mail depot) we saw some numpty reverse (twice!) into another car whilst trying to parallel park. When he got out of the car he did a quick glance around to see if anyone had been watching...
