Word of warning - marine theft around Lymington

Hi,
We've received warnings this morning of "travellers" (not my words, so don't flame me - just what I was told!) snooping around the local boat yards and marine engineering firms in Lymington last night. One of the owners of a local marine engineering firm actually stayed up all night at his place to guard his boats and engines he has on site.
They were reported to have climbed fences and trespassed into other commercial buildings to get into secure boat yards in Lymington so they seems very determined.
Marine crime in the south coast is becoming more and more serious so we all need to ensure that our boats are as safe and secure as they possibly can be. I'm selling a lot of new boats to people that have had theirs stolen at the moment - this shouldn't be happening!! Check your trackers to make sure they still operate!! Some of the pay as you go SIM card operated ones will need a phone call or a text message once every 6 months otherwise the network operators cut them off due to inactivity. Check wheel clamps, hitch locks, padlocks, outboard locks, remove top mounted GPS's, VHF's, fuel tanks etc. and ask the marinas/boat yards/brokerage yards what security they have. Some yards have 24 hour guards on site.

They're not just after high value stuff - any metals.
the irony being an ali dinghy mast chopped up and de rigged is worth a few quid when weighed in but several hundred intact and rigged and they aren't generally highly theft proof They're not just after high value stuff - any metals.

Yes, they were in the area for the Wickham Horse Fair, they moved on but were back for a bit.They're not just after high value stuff - any metals.
They took a number of masts and booms from the dinghy park.
