Me and the GF have been to neither, but fancy going to both for different reasons.. Which one would you pick? It would be for 7-10 days in November this year if that makes any difference smile

Any info or opinions would be much appreciated!

Vegas, no contest. Lived in Dubai for a little under 18 months, and while I love the place, Vegas rules - I'm headed back on thursday for the 4th time and can't wait to get back biggrin

Thanks so far.. The pull for me in Dubai is the dates fall when the F1 Abu Dhabi race is on, so would head to that...

I do really fancy Vegas aswell, but the long flights are putting me off slightly!

Vegas - but plan some out-of-Vegas activities (like Death Valley or Grand Canyon) with a night or 2 away. 7-10 days is too long to just carry on doing the hotels and casinos!

The Hoover Dam is good for a visit too.

Vegas every time, Dubai has shopping, indoor skiing and the Wild wadi water park, Vegas has Grand Canyon, Hoover dam, the Strip and some top bars/nightclubs and great entertainment.

Plenty to do around Vegas if you hire a car, Death Valley, Hoover Dam and then you could do a night at Grand Canyon, even the meteor crater.

Last month I did San Francisco, Yosemite, Death Valley, Vegas, Grand Canyon, Vegas in 12 days with plenty of time everywhere. Was an awesome holiday and highly recommended.

I have been to Dubai as well, good fun but I wouldn't want to spend more than 4 days there.

Yeah we just did the same with Zion, Bryce and Phoenix added on in 16 days, best holiday we have ever had (except for the Tioga Pass still being shut by snow).

Dubai is ok for a restful holiday but there isn't a great deal to do.

Vegas all the way although 4nts at either would be my personal maximum. The difference with Vegas is you’re a short drive or flight from so much. You could fill your time in the Nevada area easily but I’d be tempted to fly to LA or SF drive highway 1, see Yosemite etc.

Of those two I'd choose Vegas but not spend any time in Vegas (been there, done that).

Las Vegas without any question. So much to see and do in the city itself; so much to see outside it.

I've been to both. Vegas 5 times Dubai once. I would go back to Vegas but never again Dubai...

Well this has been pretty one sided!

So 10 days in Vegas is too long? Neither of us are big gamblers, but we'd like to have the odd shot and see the sites.

Is a week hop to Hawaii to far, then 3 or 4 nights in Vegas? Saying that I'd like to see the Grand Canyon.. Can that be done in a day?

Hawaii (Honolulu on O'ahu) is 6 hours or so flight from LA. I'd do it for 6 nights or so. Otherwise try San Diego / beach cities / San Francisco? I personally dislike LA.

I find 4 days in Vegas to be enough.

3 days in Vegas max. (would you want to spend more than 3 days in Blackpool...?!) Hire something with a V8 and go cruising (don't do LA it's an empty vacuous shyte hole).

I was in Vegas last year for 4 days (over the Labour Day weekend....) and, although busy, I loved every minute! Took a drive out to Hoover dam one day and just stayed in town the rest of the time but never really scratched the surface.

If you were to drive out to the Grand Canyon, I'd recommend it was a 2 day trip minimum as it's a long drive there and back.

If I could, I'd be back to Vegas in a flash. Never fancied Dubai at all, although the GP would be a tempter!

Was looking to go back for a week this year but couldn't justify it after the big holiday last year....

Interesting..

I think we'll head to Vegas then. Seems to be pretty one sided! I feel if wE're heading all the way over there we should make the effort to see a couple of places.

I'd suggest a 2 day trip for Grand Canyon. It's about 5 hours drive LV to GC south rim but you'll want to stop at the Hoover Dam on the way. We stayed overnight at Williams (about 45 mins from GC) overnight.

After an afternoon walking along the rim of the GC I was shattered, it's at 7k feet altitude and it really tired me out, I wouldn't have wanted to drive back to LV that night!

From what I've heard avoid the Skywalk over the GC, the National Parks areas are very cheap ($20 per car per week) and have the best views/facilities.

You could do Death Valley from LV as a day trip but it's the opposite direction from GC.
