I know we joke about 'go faster' stripes and other various 'static' mods that make a car go faster but................

I finally got around to giving the 450 an oil and filter change today. The previous owner had been using a 15w40 mineral oil.

I have replaced it with Fuchs Pro S Ester fully synthetic 10w50 from Opie Oils with a V8F high performance, high flow, high density glassfibre filter.

So, as the title states..............is it just me or does the car feel just a little more eager?

Less oil drag in the engine due to a thinner oil?

I'm sure everywhere I've read states that the RV8 should use mineral based and not synthetic oil.

Interesting Phil. Only today I was reading an article that quoted TVR as recommending fully synthetic for its RV8 engines..........................

I understand some oils can be too thin and some may risk dislodging deposits in the engine.

The only thing i have noticed this afternoon is that it seems to run just a smidge hotter but no problems.

V8S in synthetic fior three years without issue

Read with interest - I'm using Valvoline VR1 20-50 in a new (just run in) 4.6 at the mo' - will this still be OK in the winter (last post in link implies possible issue below 5 degrees?)

One thing I will say is that my engine does not seem any noisier/rattlier after the oil change. Just runs a tad hotter. And I mean a smidge

8 years with synthetic in my 4.0 Chim so far.

I also use the Valvoline CRI mineral based oil.

So does Leigh in his race car.
