Habitat puts 30 of it's stores into Admin this afternoon.

Hardly a surprise, but I am surprised at who bought the name, flogging a dead horse comes to mind.

I'm not surprised given their prices, which were rather high for furniture that was nothing special.

I used to love their stuff, and bought a fair amount from there, but not in the last few years. For the last 10 years their furniture has been far too pricy when compared to Ikea, and the styles have been terrible, as though the designers were desparately trying to mirror the brand's 70's roots. Far too much brown, for a start!

I do hope the brand survives and starts making stuff I want to buy again.

Is it a rent quarter-day tomorrow (25th) which is why there is a sudden rush of chains putting up the shutters?

I'm struggling with this one - I can only assume they over-priced themselves out of the market. They only needed to sell about one kitchen per quarter to break even, surely?

Yep! If found quite a few things in there I liked the look of, until I spotted the price tag...

Good riddance and hardly surprising.

I am clearly not alone in thinking that their insipid furniture and products have always been overpriced, drably-designed and mediocre.

It does seem that over the last few years they've lost their way.

Recently it got to the point that it's been the same price to go to an actual design shop rather than Habitat!

Moben were simply dreadful, I remember seeing them on Watchdog because the quality of their kitchens were nothing short of rubbish.

Didn't Moben own Portland Connservatories at one point, or am I thinking of another company?

Have you tried China. They amke everything these days. You might have to buy a bulk order.

But, yes, you're right; those are the 4 'favourite' days each year for administrations.

Tried globally! But, shot up to Edinburgh habitat today and bought enough to keep me going till I check out... Everything is 20% off too.
