I wonder how this one will play out

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Suspected...

Which comes a few days after Cameron said

The PM said:
the Prime Minister pledged that property holders who use “reasonable force” against intruders would not be prosecuted.

The only mistake I can see is that they didn't dispose of the body.

It will make no difference. Reasonable force hasn't changed. Cameron hasn't said anything that'll make a great difference to what you are allowed to do. Just a stupid soundbite to play to DM readers.

I've yet to see Cameron do anything that is making a positive difference. Talk, talk, talk...

The death comes just 48 hours after David Cameron vowed to bring in stronger measures to protect those who are forced to defend their property.

"We will put beyond doubt that homeowners and small shopkeepers who use reasonable force to defend themselves or their properties will not be prosecuted," he said

The reform will mean they can use reasonable force if they believe their property is under threat.

Currently, they can only act if they feared for their lives.

When this plays out in court, the defence will say he acted with unreasonable force etc etc.

Well f*ck that. Gang wearing balaclavas in my house. I would fear for my life and act accordingly.

Looks like these robbing b*stards picked the wrong bloke to rob.

Good.

One dead burglar is an excellent result. Self defence, no case to answer, or it should be.

I also hope this burgular died slowly and in considerable pain. Out of the many dumb-a$$ criminals out there burgulars and theifs are at the top of my hate list.
As civil rights european justice is far too soft in the UK courts it really does send a breath of fresh air when I see these types of examples played out to the crim fraternity. It may make them think twice.
But then, if they were able to think in the first place, they wouldn't be a scummer thief!

Harsh I know, but with lack of justice on a regular basis it will turn many to sway more to this line of thinking.

It's not just one dead burglar.

It's 100's of families saved from being traumatised by the dead prick.

Can't believe they are looking at guy for murder, unless that is SOP for such a situation.

No they won't. That will be the CPS's job.

Kenny Noye was cleared of murdering an undercover officer.

That shows how it's more than possible to use force to 'protect' yourself.

However you have a dead person. Someone claims it was a burglar. You have to interview those involved. If you take a statement they may incriminate themselves. Therefore they need legal advice. Arrest sounds bad but allows forensic capture and legal advice and no chance for allegations of collusion. That way if or when it's dropped there is highly limited scope for claims of cover up. The police are also obliged by the coroner to fully investigate the circumstances.
