Seeing that the HD5850 can be had for a little over £100 these days, i'm planning on bringing my old Windows PC out of retirement in the next few weeks and using my 27" iMac as a monitor for it.

The last thing I used it for was WoW, although I have played Portal 2 on my iMac.
What else is out at the moment that is worth me picking up through steam? I play pretty much any genre biggrin

I have, for a little bit, never really got into it...

Plus I know that Java is shocking in it's performance, but I was looking for something to exercise the new graphics card a little biggrin

I've not heard much good about 2142. BC2 neither. The fact that I have played neither doesn't mean my opinion is crap... it means BF2 is so good that I have no desire to try anything else... thusly, my statement still stands. smile

BF1942... hm... close.

BF2 was awesome and was a huge fan. Karkand was probaly best map ever! only thing that let it down was the stupidly high ranking where at one point it would take me over a year of my average play to rank up! Add to the spawn killing on carriers, heli whoring and the like and put me off in the end.

2142 was a marmite game. I personally loved it and played it to death. Hardcore BF2 players put it down alot but I for one just loved it.

BC2 is the better of the 3. The maps are great, fighting intense and you have to be very good to survive. Good heli pilots no longer own the battlefield and planes have gone (Thank god!). Destructive enviroments and the weapons make a great game!

Ah, I only play Karkand and sometimes Jalalalalalalabad. Not bothered about ranking up. I only have the first two unlocks still and I still have loads of fun when I play. My current challenge is to try to only kill people with C4 for an entire round. Taking out hordes with a basic shotgun or shock-padding people is also satisfying.

As good a pack as that is games wise it's not going to stretch the legs of a 5850.

I'm going to recommend Batman:Arkham Asylum - brilliant fun.

Off the top of my head...

Mass Effect 1 & 2 (essential RPG/Shooter)
Dragon Age: Origins (If you like more traditional RPGs)
Company of Heroes (RTS)

As mentioned, the Valve pack would keep you entertained for...well, months and months.

Years back, gave up at the end of BC. Tried it again recently and couldn't get back into it to be honest, I'm way to far back from the curve these days...
