Anyone entering? I am going to go for the august one I think, sounds like good fun. There was some pro's last year I think.

Would be a good place to have a load of PH riders?

Well actually it is, the event takes place before the park opens to cars, between 6 and 7am.

Read the pdf's last paragraph. There will be some traffic.

pdf said:
While the Park gates officially open to public traffic by 7.00am, local residents and delivery
drivers may be circulating in the park before this time. Also, as the gates are opened in rotation
(starting with Richmond Gate and then moving in a clockwise direction round to Ham Gate), some
gates will be open before 7.00am. Marshalls will be on hand to warn all incoming motorists that a
cycling event is in progress and there will also be warning signs on the course to alert motorists to
the event. There are some 650+ deer grazing in Richmond Park, as well as other wildlife such as
rabbits and foxes which may cross the course. Riders are responsible for their own safety and the
safety and wellbeing of the surrounding wildlife and must therefore be vigilant while riding

Huh?? confused

He asked a question. The correct answer was (and still is) No. (The road is not closed) Would you like me to have sugar coated it for your sensibilites?

Sorry the correct answer is:

The road is closed to public traffic but there maybe resident and delivery vehicles in the park as this event takes place before 7am, when the gates open.

That's not difficult to write is it. 'No' doesn't really cover it does it, as for the smart arse comment, I wouldn't have bothered it isn't even for me so do't get on your high horse.

I like the fact they have already given you an excuse if you have a slow time, well I had a load of dear crossing and then this bunch of foxes attacked me and stole one of my wheels, otherwise I would have done an 11 minute lap !

Is any of this really needed? The answer to the road being closed is no, he just didn't add the detail (but then added that too).

Move on.

So did anyone else sign up for this in the end? Got my entry confirmation through yesterday and starting to feel a little nervous!

I've been given the 4th from last start time - does that mean they are expecting me to be slow? Anyone got any good tips for a first time TTer?

I can't do it sadly, going out for a mates birthday the night before which I expect to get messy!

I can't offer and tips, the only TT I've done was 45 miles so tactically totally different. However for that course I'd say go easy ish up to Richmond gate, go as fast as you can down to kingston (its downhill mostly) and from there I guess just open the taps to the max or at least what you can maintain for the back half.

I will probably do the course sometime one morning to see what I could do it in.

in a regular club event, the people who start at the back are the fastest, so either you had to advise them of your expected finishing time and, given you position, you put somethign impressive like 22 minutes..........or its done at random.........
