Ive had my Tuscan for a month and im having a real headache reading the oil level,i have spoken to the factory and they told me to warm up the engine then turn of and dip it,which i have done and im stuffed if i can see any oil on the dipstick, the car must have oil in it as the oil light hasnt come on,mind you as its a TVR it probably is,nt even connected to the engine!!!
The oil psi is at 23-24 on tickover and 52-54 at 100mph. Any help please...

Make sure that the oil is right up to temperature ie 80 Deg.C, just starting the engine and running it for a few minutes is not long enough take it for a good run first & check on level ground.Oil pressure can be still OK when the oil is low, but don't let it get too low.

I use a bit of kitchen roll and press it against the dip stick, so i can see where the mark is.

Mike, when I check to oil in mine its at the end of a good run, so it's really warm. Find somewhere level, stop the car but leave engine running. Open up the front bonnet and have cloth/towel to hand. Turn off the engine, unscrew dip stick and there's the oil level. Never fails.

If you don't get a reading after that, then you probably need oil!

Just how quickly does the oil drain away? (ie what's your time frame to get a reading after switching the engine off)

You can tell if someone checks the oil on their Tuscan regularly - their fingerprints have been burnt off!

If you use Mobil 1 0W40 it will have drained away before you can get back to the front of the car after switching the engine off! If you use Castrol RS10W60 you have a bit longer.

That's what the gloves in the tool kit are for

Edited to add my coment .....

I use mobil 1, as you say there is a trace of oil on the dipstick but no clear reading. This does seem a little hit and miss.

I did not get a tool kit , should I have done?

It's very hit & miss when I was using Mobil 1 I just added half a litre every 500 miles.

I did not get a tool kit either, but thorght it was included with later models.
