So, yesterday Nick took the plunge and took his TVR to Motoscope rolling road in Northallerton. The car was put on the rollers, and taken through its paces. It produced a piffling 99.8bhp at the flywheel. After a bit of head scratching, Richard (aka. God of BHP), realised that fuel was peeing all over the hot exhaust, as the fuel pipe had fallen onto it. After fixing this, adjusting the throttle so it opened beyond the 3/4 it had been, and adjusting the mixture (it was very lean), the car put down 172.5bhp at 6500rpm, and 170lb/ft of torque. That's a 103000 mile old engine, that's had only a top end rebuild. Not bad for an old banger, eh? ;-)

Eeeekk sound like it was one long journey from disaster... good power though once sorted..

I am thinking of getting mine done this week.

Fab news that he's got it rebuilt & sorted!

6500 sounds a bit high on the revs - when I had mine checked the max torque & power was nearer 5500 revs?

After all the effort that has gone in please don't go & 'blow' things

Great news finding the fuel leak before it set fire to the S

bet there was a difference between the drive there and the drive back!!!!!

Having been in a car that caught fire and destroyed itself, that is a scarey tale!

Glad it's all sorted and pushing out good power is a real bonus

6500 is high, peak torque was below this. Nick never really revs it over 5500 in real terms.Power's ok, but without torque it's nothing!
