Copyright issues.

I am currently in the process of making some display boards for an event that we are going to soon. I plan to use some photos of cars that I personally took at Goodwood Festival of Speed over the past few years I am assuming that I am ok to use these?

Should be ok in traditional copyright sense aalthough FoS may stipulate as a condition of entry that images you take on site are not for commercial use

They'd still be your copyright though, whatever terms of entry were (unless they included an assignment of copyright). If you took images for commercial use when a condition of entry said you can't then you would have been trespassing at the FoS

Does this have anything to do with the fact (apparantly) that you can't sell your images of a BTCC race - and others no doubt - unless your an official accredited media photographer..?

So therefore in going to a BTCC race without such media accreditation im agreeing to the condition you mention?

I think that would imply that its quite likely the Goodward Festival of Speed would have something similar since they have offical media guys there too.

Not sure where the line is drawn, sounds like the OP isnt going to be selling these images, but is going to use them as some kind of self promotional work or purely as a display?

Unlikely anyone will pull him up about it anyhow.

Think this is a general condition of admission to most Circuits in this country for all race meetings not just BTCC . i.e. you’re free to take photographs provided they are not for commercial use or publication (or words to that affect)

This is either printed on the entry ticket or programme (along with the "Motor Racing is dangerous" warning.

Don’t know how that works with things like personal websites etc or indeed publishing on facebook.

The only time I can think this would apply is if the car were being used for an advert
