Help- leaking Fox Float RP3?
Discussion
Hi there
Bought a second hand Fox RP3 rear shock from someone at work to replace the awful Rockshox on my Mongoose Teocali. It had been sat on an unused frame for quite a while but he had given it an air can service.
Needed different eyelet reducer things so took it to be fitted at the local shop last night, everything seemed fine, felt much better round the car park where I tried it out.
Came back to the bike this evening and pushed down on the seat to see how it had held its air- noticed it had lost most of its pressure, pushed down really hard and it "stuck on", didn't return to its full extension. Tried pulling it out and it came out gradually but just kept sinking back to where it was sticking. Pressured it up to 180psi, 10psi less than its maximum, where it felt a little better but still sagging back to a good centimetre from full extension.
We then noticed that there was a fair bit of oil coming from around the propedal / rebound switches, and that the propedal switch could be rotated 360 degrees.... presumably its not supposed to do that?
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers

I've noticed that when I remove the air from my RP23 a bit of oil comes out the inlet, I presume that's just oil that's made its way past the seals (I always put a dab of oil on there before each ride).
Give it a chance and take it for a ride. You never know, it might just be bone dry.
