Is this the right forum, or should it be in 'Computers and Stuff'? If it should could a moderator move it for me? (Not to General Gassing though please, I never go there).
Has anyone used Expedia? Are they any good? We just got let down on a holiday and I need to find something within a week. They seems to have loads, but like most companies they offer lots but sometimes 'Oh sorry Sir, we just sold that one'.
Any feedback gratefully received.

Given them an occasional try and even booked some stuff through them.
I have to say that more often than not we try them and then try the airline or hotel direct to see if we can get a better deal.
Or, if transfers are involved, like our recent holiday, cost it all up and then get a decent travel agent to check out the best deal so that if it goes horribly wrong you have someone to shout at! You can also benefot from the same economies of scale as Expedia. We've just been away and put ourselves in the hands of Kuoni and really can't praise them enough
But it depends where you off to and how many bits of a jigsaw puzzle you need to fit together.

Have just booked a hol thru Expedia and we tried to package it together ourselves and via a travel agent and couldnt beat the deal - good service as well.
Have also used lastminute.com and that came out ok.
If booking last minute as you are, have a dekko on the web, and then phone a travel agent and see if they can do a better deal - in the end, they want to sell holidays and often will match or beat webdeals, just depends on your luck really. One of our neighbours never pays supplements for sea view etc, he just haggles with the Travel Agent and they cut a deal.

Just came back from a week in Florida with a mate. We booked on Thursday for a Saturday flight through the first choice website.
return flight to Florida = £130!
Organised our own car and accomodation and it turned out to be very cheap indeed. Lastminute, BA, Expedia all had flights at around £500.

Try www.opodo.com too and www.hotels.com for accommodation.
Try www.trailfinders.co.uk too, though you have to talk to someone opposed to doing the business on-line, the numbers for the regional offices are listed on the site.
