Hi all,

I don't know how many of you are South Park fans and how many of you keep up to date with the american schedule.

Has anybody else seen the latest South Park episode? It's called "you're getting old" and is a real gut wrencher. I've never felt compelled to google a south park episode after watching for an explanation before this one.

The episode centres around Stan and how everything he used to like is becoming st, literally all he sees is giant lumps of turd where his friends once were, his cynicism eventually loses him the friendship of Kyle, Eric and Kenny and they don't want anything more to do with him. Meanwhile Kyle and Cartman become best friends and Stans parents after a load of arguing realise that they have grown apart and divorce. Stan's mum leaves and takes stan to live in a new house with her!! fk!!

I saw this on Comedy Central last night. Very strange episode and not very funny either. It gave me the impression than Parker and Stone are sick and tired of the show and might call it quits. They were young when it started but are older now so maybe they've outgrown the show (and its humour) and their views and outlook on life have changed.

That was the impression I was getting as well, its the mid season break episode I believe. I also understand that there contract is up for renegotiation as well, which might have something to do with it. They are still apperently very annoyed about the sensorship of the Mohammed episodes that Comedy Central did after they wrote it

Its true though. I hate how each year they bring out a crappy movie about aliens that you can barely see in the scenes and that give up easy.

I've just watched this after recording it on Friday, and you pretty much can place Parker and Stone as Stan's mum & dad saying that they've done this too long, aren't happy and want to call it quits.

I will admit this season hasn't been strong - it's usually a lot funnier, but that episode was (for want of a better word) pretty powerful with it's underlying meaning, even if the delivery vehicle was a bit strange.

Just remains to see what the rest of the season is like after the mid-season break.

Must admit I thought that this episode signals the begining of the end for South Park. But lets face it, they have been far more consistantly funny over the years than both The Simpsons and Family Guy.

I thought this series was one of the stronger ones. Slash, CBBA, schizo Butters it was all really funny, st even this episode was funny for 15 minutes before it got all serious!

I'm left wondering if this is as some of you say the beginning of the end or perhaps the beginning of the characters taking on more human roles and having more normal issues?

If Matt and Trey are getting bored of the South Park routine, I hope they decide to carry it on by changing it instead of trying something completely new.

imho this season so far is a straight 7/10 - Funnybot was ste, and CBBA wasn't amazing - it was like they got stuck halfway through the episode and invented the vunterslash character as a way to tie it all up. Royal Pudding was dull too, however episodes that revolve around Canada/Ike usually are so there weren't any surprises there.

The only genuine laugh-out-loud episodes for me this season were HUMANCENTiPAD and the first half of You're Getting Old.

Funnybot was brilliant. Didn't get the US-culture references, but I liked the breakdown of crap stand-up comedians:

"Used to be, joke was set-up, then punchline. Now joke goes set-up, punchline, then 'AWKWARD'!"

I think it's time they wrapped it up. It's been just something I watch out of habit for a while now whereas it used to be something I watched because I genuinely found it funny.

Go out on a high.

They're such a diverse talent that they're probably wasting themselves on doing south park still.. Team America was funnier than any south park in the past 4 years, they're doing Broadway as well now.

I'd like to see other things from them.

Does seem that they might can it, and I can't blame them.

I've always said Groening did the right thing canning Futurama when he did.

futurama got cancelled as bender says on the comeback straight to dvd episode.

there's another series coming too so its back.

i dont think SP is over the hill tbh as they consistantly do come up with the gem. i'd still rather have 3-4 laughs an episode than watch the simpsons. only time family guy is good is when stewie or brian are the main charachters.

Was a weird episode, but still good, just not laugh out loud funny.

I still enjoy the simpsons, Prefer watching the newer clean-cut shows rather than the older sketchy episodes.
