Filter colour cast

Anyone able to tell me why my Cokin filters produce a purple colour cast on my images?

Is there any way to avoid it (better filters)?

Which lens(es) are you using, and which filter holder do you have?

Cokin filters are very well known for doing this. They are cheap though

Try Lee, or Hitech if you don't have the cash for Lee

Are you stacking the filters? I don't usually notice a cast with just one, but if I try using an ND and a grad at the same time then it's very noticeable.

Cokin are well known for magenta cast, even on one filter. Stacking will make it worse.

Hitech are the next step up , still have a colour cast at times if you stack (especially with the 3.0 nd).

Lee are the best but hideously expensive and hard to get hold of.

Very timely thread as i had this effect last night.Stacked the cokin filters as shooting into the sun and this was the result

You can correct but with a gnd its not easy, and you have filtered out some wanted light so IMO the image does tend to look flat and lacking sometimes no matter what you do.

I wasn't stacking them just using the one filter and noticed a very pronounced purple cast which was a bit annoying.

May have to just spend some more cash then.
