It seems it ended up at Coventry being a spares source for the Air Atlantique plane


wasn't that the one used in the British Aircraft series that Harry Enfield narrated? Seems a vague memory…

I saw that programme only a few weeks ago. The Anson was in civvy all blue colours.

The Civvy Blue Anson is the Shuttleworth Collection's one, the Coventry one is in Silver and Yellow.

My Dad did talk of buying the one from Southend Museum and sticking it on our garage Roof, but he couldn't get Senior Management approval....

I have been tapping up the father in law and the Anson was bought at auction from the RAF by Doug Walker.It was collected from RAF Colerne in Wilts and delivered to Diss in Norfolk where Doug already had a Meteor in his back garden.

Googling the serial number says that it went to Coventry for spares in the end. There is a picture of it on the internet being in storage at Duxford.

If it's the one I think it is, it's currently sat next to a shedload of Shackleton parts.

Just checked and it is indeed TX226.

At least it hasn't ALL gone to the Chinese smelters then
